Influences: I grew up in South Carolina, so my influences are wide and varied. As a child; it was Beach Music, Country, and Classic Rock (or just Rock then). But it wasn't just rock, it was James Taylor, Jim Croce, The Eagles, CSN, CCR, The Little River Band, Southern Rock, Firefall, and finally Elvis, Delbert, and Willie! And my family has always been a fan of the TV, so you got the The Lawrence Welk Show, The Rat Pack (Dean Martin specificly, loved the Golddiggers!), Andy Williams, Pat Boone, Bing, The Smothers Brothers, The Hudson Brothers, Mac Davis, Hee Haw (loved that all jugg band), The Osmonds, my first concert, what?, Sesame Street, The Sound of Music, the Grease Soundtrack, and then there was the Church singin' and old Gospel. In the eighth grade, I discovered AC/DC while riding the Mind Scrambler at the Myrtle Beach Pavillion, they "shook me all night long" and ever since! I liked metal bands, the hair bands, the classic rock, the pop rock, and the country through high school (hey it was Greenville, SC in the early 80's). Next, Clemson University. Who would have thought Clemson, SC would have changed my musical life? But it did! For it was here that I discovered 80's Brit and European pop; The Cure, The Smiths, General Public, INXS (Aussies), The Housemartins, The Clash (OK anti-pop, but pop). Then there was REM, Drivin' n' Cryin', The Connells, Bob Marley, The Dead, early Widespread, The Indigo Girls, and many others. Man I wish I had my old mix tapes! It was also in college where I sang in public for the first time (I was "Hypnotized", no really I was). The Georgia Satellites, "Keep your hands to yourself". After graduation, it was a trip to Australia, where I was introduced to Jimmy Barnes and American, Steve Earle, for the first time. "Love Shack" was huge there during that time. I gotta go right now, but I'll be back to let you know what happened next.
