About Me

Girl Scouts is an enrichment experience for girls. It is a safe place for girls to explore their world, develop an understanding and empathy for others, and take action to make the world a better place. Through participation in Girl Scouts, girls gain courage, confidence and character alongside a group of girls who will be their friends for life. In Girl Scouts, girls are guided by committed, caring adults who make learning fun.

Girl Scouts on New Season of MTV's hit reality show, Run's House

Vanessa and Angela Simmons, daughters of Rev. Run (aka Joseph Simmons of Run-DMC) are the new spokesgirls for Girl Scouts! This season, watch as they meet with the Girl Scouts for the first time, discover the opportunities available for giving back and encourage others to join the organization.

You can also follow Vanessa and Angela online through their official Girl Scouts page www.girlscouts.org/vanessaandangela as they spread the word on Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy Programs at Girl Scouts. The Simmons sisters, Rev Run and their mom Justine, a Girl Scout alumna, have recorded a variety of television interviews for the cause.

"There is a real lack of people encouraging young ladies to be leaders," Vanessa said. "Promoting entrepreneurship and financial literacy is important. Girls need to be business-minded so we have more female leaders in the world." Angela added that, "Starting now is the best thing girls can do. Selling cookies is a business and you develop those entrepreneurial skills at a young age."

I'd like to meet:

Any girl age 5 to 17! Or, any girl or woman who has ever been, or ever will be a Girl Scout. Girl Scouts isn’t just for little girls. Teen Girl Scouts have the opportunity to learn more about themselves, hone leadership skills and make a difference the world. And they get to do this by traveling the world or participating in projects with meaningful and far-reaching impacts. Financial assistance is available so every girl can participate in Girl Scouting, regardless of her family’s financial resources.
