DJ Marcus first got on the decks in 2001 while residing in Austin, TX. He quickly became a regular in the Austin afterhours scene playing 4-6 hour sets. The after hour's scene begged for dark progressive house and his original favorite labels were Baroque, Fluid, and Hooj Choons.
During his last 6 months in Texas he played regularly at Austin clubs and shared billings with numerous international DJ superstars at massive parties in Dallas, Houston, and Austin.
In 2002 DJ Marcus returned to his home state of Illinois to attend law school. He quickly landed a short lived residency at the famous Crobar. This venue closed under new management for almost a year. Since that time he could be seen now and then at Chicago clubs such as Vision, Transit, Spybar, Smartbar, and Red No. 5.
In 2008 DJ Marcus has explored other genres such as techno, minimal, and deep house. He is now a member of an exclusive record pool of less than 50 DJ's worldwide. Along with co-members Sultan, Miss Nine, Ned Shepard, Eelke Kleijn, Jondi & Spesh, and others DJ Marcus reviews pre-released material from major labels and provides vital feedback.
In a tireless effort to support the industry, DJ Marcus records regular, and sometimes weekly, mixes of upfront promos and distributes them along with the track listing worldwide.
His mix links are reposted in Australia, Germany, France, England, Holland, Sweden, Russia, and other international hot spots where quality electronic music appreciation still thrives.
In August 2008 DJ Marcus was a featured guest DJ of Innate on Baroque's monthly DI.FM show Baroque In Session. His mixes are regularly played on XTC Radio London and have been featured on friskyRadio and PureDJ.com
On October 2, 2008 Progressions with DJ Marcus will make its debut on DI.FM. Progressions will be a monthly two hour show in the Progressive channel airing the first Thursday of the month from 2-4 EST.
