About Me

The Cleveland Connection By Ron Wynn, [email protected]
The strength of Nashville’s songwriting community and tradition, coupled with the feeling that things are about to explode nationally in the city’s rock scene, led to a decision by producer/writer and performer Mike Farona to relocate from Akron to Nashville.
Now he has opened Middle C Music, a songwriting, production and engineering operation that includes the new Hit Pit Studios.
Farona had an exemplary reputation prior to the move. His prior studio Neon Cactus was voted Best Recording Studio in Northeast Ohio in 2005 by the Cleveland FreeTimes and Studio of the Year in 2006 by Cleveland’s Scene Magazine.
“We’re really looking at working with acts across the board,” Farona added. We offer the best of both worlds in terms of artist development. We want to help acts in every phase, from writing and polishing the songs to producing them, helping them develop and enhance the stage and live act, and in engineering, mixing and remixing the finished material to ensure they get the best possible recording. All these things are part of the total package, and they’re all equally important. The thing that we learned those years in the studios in Ohio was that we enjoy all those areas and we wanted to find artists who had the potential and just needed a little improvement.”
But Farona’s particularly happy about a hit record he’s produced with Jamestown, New York rockers Lareau (Warrior/UMDG). The song titled “Changes” began breaking out last month and is currently in the top 30 and still rising on the rock charts.
Though still rounding into shape, Farona feels that things are proceeding ahead of schedule for Middle C Music in their transitional process. He’s especially pleased that thus far the company isn’t finding an entrenched opposition or political barriers in place hampering them.
“It’s been all about the music and nothing else since we arrived in Nashville,” Farona said. “So far we’ve found so many talented bands and performers that there’s no question we’ll find some acts we want to work with. Our key is finding people a little different from what’s already out there, and those who aren’t afraid of doing something that’s not trendy or hasn’t been previously played. There’s no question they’re out there, and Middle C Music will be one of the places that’s available for them.”
