My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.acidplanet.com/terminal_zero
Band Members: TZ aka Spensa aka Longbones. Working on a collaboration with The Oracle. I think i'm slowing the process down, but we have started some great ideas. Hopefully I can get my shit together to help advance our work.
Influences: Electronic/sample-based:

Richard D. James under any alias, Squarepusher, Luke Vibert, Amon Tobin, LTJ Bukem, Kraftwerk, Beck, Boards of Canada, Dieselboy, Roni Size and Reprezent (preferably the older stuff), Tricky, Morcheeba, Massive Attack, Dj Shadow, Bjork, Anything by Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, Dj Qbert, Prince Paul, Rza/ Wutang Clan, Tribe Called Quest, Beastie Boys, Jurassic 5/ Cut Chemist and Dj Numark, MC 900ft. Jesus, Skinny Puppy, older NIN, older Ministry, Ruby, Pigface, Kool Keith, Underworld, too many more to count.

Rock-based:

Pink Floyd, Faith No More, Rage Against The Machine, Helmet, Silverfish, Hendrix, SCOTS, Sex Pistols, pretty much any funk that came out in the 70's especially by Parliament/Funkadelic, Isaac Hayes, or Curtis Mayfield. the Stones, Zappa, War, Zeppelin, Tool, Radiohead, man i'm forgetting way too many others.

Acid Planet musicians that have helped and inspired me:

Bexarametric, Infamous Acid Kidd, The Oracle, King Tut, Tedzee and the Organic Ensemble, DJ V@s, egkowhzstawlk(echo stalk), SPITZNAGEL, Sub Concious System, TAF, Neil Armstrong and many more.

Way too many other influences to list such as classical composers, jazz musicians, blues musicians etc. not to mention all the books, movies, artwork and other non musical influences.
Sounds Like: I don't know anymore. I listen to so many different bands, djs, groups, styles, genres, etc and draw inspiration from all so that my music has many many different faces. Although the music I make tends to be directly proportional to the music I'm currently listening to at the time. My styles range from drum n bass to drill n bass and idm, downtempo, lounge, jazz, hiphop triphop breakbeat and electro, to classical, rock, metal and blues, carrying elements of each along for the ride.

Originally I started making electronic music because:

A) i was a drummer and wasnt very good at live melodies on non percussive instruments

B) I've always had a love and symbiotic relationship with computers and electronics

C) I lived in a series of apartments and had neither the money nor space nor privacy for "real" instruments

and perhaps the real reason...

D) i listened to Aphex Twin's "Richard D. James Album" and had all my previous pre-conceptions about "techno" completely obliterated. I had to know how he made the sounds he did and got pushed down this path and as such will probably always have some of the Aphex and Warp Records sensibilities in all my electronic music endeavors.
Record Label: none yet... wink wink, hint hint
