The Bodhran Band was founded in the year 2000 in Israel. One of its goals was to experiment with the fusing of traditional Irish music with other musical styles such jazz, classical, and Mediterranean music. This combination, together with the energetic playing style of the musicians, produced very interesting and lively arrangements.
Today, the Bodhran band is considered to be the most innovative Israeli bands playing Irish and Scottish music.
All of these musicians bring their individual talent and experience to the band, but the music produced by the Bodhran band is the result of the close personal relations between its members, which enhance their musical expression and performance.
Since its establishment, the Bodhran band has performed in a great variety of musical events and festivals in Israel, including: the Goldstar Beer Festival, "Four Days in Ireland", Jacob’s Ladder, Murphy's beer campaign, and others. They have also appeared on Israeli television, and have been broadcast on the radio.
The band often performs with other like-minded musicians, most notably the very talented and versatile guitarist and harmonica player, Shay Tochner.
