Future Funk Squad Remixes............

About Me

Future Funk Squad Biography
During his development into a versatile DJ / Producer, Glen Nicholls (the mastermind behind Future Funk Squad) absorbed the best in electronic pop culture as a youth. At age 10 he made his first foray into emulating his idols such as Depeche Mode and Erasure by playing his own songs on the piano. In the early Nineties he immersed himself into the sounds of Autechre, NIN, Global Communication and the electronica label Warp. But it was after witnessing the monumental live shows of the Prodigy that the blistering producer in him was awoken.
Future Funk Squad had it's breakthrough with a remix of club classic Raze "Break 4 Love". He has since gone on to remix such acts as Moloko, Mint Royale, Lamb and the Stanton Warriors, with most recent remixes including Mylo "Drop The Pressure", Yazoo "Situation", The Prodigy "Spitfire" and Sander Kleinenberg "The Fruit".
After a series of club hits in house, breaks and drum & bass, the Future Funk Squad now makes a giant step in its evolution from dance tracks and remixes to songwriting. This can especially be seen in the use of gifted guest vocalists who increase the number of listeners by bringing the club-friendly beats to a larger audience. The vocalists are: Tamra, MC Mojo, Ben Keenan and the legendary Kirsty Hawkshaw. On every track on "Audio Damage" one can hear that Future Funk Squad is rooted in the deeply creative heyday of the Nineties. The vibe is not a copy of something from the past, but instead combines the British feeling for great pop songs with the perfected funk elegance of the dancefloor underground. This has been duly noted by EA Sports who have included "Sorcerary" on their huge FIFA 2005 video game, and MTV America who have licensed various tracks for the massive "Punk'd" and "Making The Video" shows, gaining exposure in over 50 countries on the station.
In the scene's clubs, Nicholls still has a home today as a credible party rocker. More recently he has been touring as the Future Funk Squad Sound System, taking MC Mojo on the road with him. Upcoming dates include sets in Australia, US, Canada and parts of Europe. The full live band, however, takes the performance to a whole other level. Featuring Glen at the helm on keyboards & mixing desk, joined by live drummer and the full array of guest vocalists, this is really where FFS come alive. Having rocked The Glade area at Glastonbury 2004, the band was promptly booked to play the Glade festival this year, amongst other various large festivals both home and abroad.
In the honest diversity of "Audio Damage", one sees that the one time bedroom wunderkind has matured into a visionary pop producer. On its way to the charts, Future Funk Squad did not water down the classic sound of electronic pop music. The beats groove heavily, the sounds are fresh, and the bass beats powerfully. But it is particularly the combination of striking voices, flowing melodies and virtuoso arrangements which make "Audio Damage" a magnificent and very current pop album.
