About Me

For Reggae Music enthusiasts worldwide, 2004 has been an exceptional year. We fell in love with our culture all over again. Bombarded with uplifting tunes, we embraced the Reggae Icons, and welcomed the 'newcomers'. When I-Wayne's single 'Can't Satisfy Her', hit the top of the Reggae charts from Jamaica to England, became a Dancehall anthem, and was being played by every radio personality worldwide...everyone was asking the same questions. 'Who is I-Wayne?'...&...'Where did he come from so suddenly?'. For 'Loyal Soldiers' President Patrick 'Mr Z' Henry, there was nothing sudden, or surprising about his label producing one of the most requested artists of the year. Mr Z who had been a recording artist since 1978, is definitely no stranger to the industry. In 1997 , 'Loyal Soldiers' was a group consisting of three deejays...Mr Z , Corrie Williamson and Garfield 'Dutch' Lamont. It was in 1999 however, that Patrick established 'Loyal Soldiers Production', enlisting Ronald 'Sonny Spoon' Wright as the GM, and Corrie Williamson as Marketing Manager. In 2k2, 'Loyal Soldiers Production' produced the album, 'What's Up Jam' featuring premier cultural Reggae artists like Luciano and Capleton to name a few. Since knowledge is a key factor in any venture, the team took the following three years studying the business, honing their managerial skills, and doing whatever needed to be done to ensure that their goals would materialize. According to Ronald 'Sonny Spoon' Wright, it was fate that brought him to discovering I-Wayne 'chanting on a sound at Forum Beach'. 'I didn't want to go out that night', says the Loyal Soldiers General Manager, 'but I went and I was sitting on top of my car. A lot of other dj's were chanting before I got there, and as I got there it was I-Wayne's turn to come on. When I-Wayne took the mic and said 'LIGHTING' and started to chant, mi jump off the car and went closer to see who that was.' Sonny Spoon was introduced to I-Wayne by a mutual friend, General Pacos, the bond was formed and according to Sonny, 'it is jus good vibes ever since'. I-Wayne was then introduced to Patrick 'Zed' Henry, and is now officially signed to the 'Loyal Soldiers' label. Mr Z and Sooney Spoon were first introduced to Sheridan by Queen Elise Kelly of Irie fm, Jamaica. Once Loyal Soldiers met Sheridan an instant relationship was born. Being mentors and having produced three tracks off Sheridans new album, 'Shotta', 'Butterfly' & 'Jetlag' all on the Loyal soldier Rhythms. Loyal Soldiers are also part of the management team and booking agents for Sheridan in Jamaica.

Band Members: I Wayne, born Cliffroy Taylor in Portmore, Jamaica, has officially hit the international scene with his ..1 hit Cant Satisfy Her. This humble, 24 year old, singer has been the first cultural reggae artist to be added to Hot 97 in New York, a station notorious for its hip hop influence. Since then the track has caught on in several markets and has entered the Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Singles charts. The firey tone of the track describes the desperate reality of prostitution, poverty, and sexually transmitted diseases in Jamaica. His follow-up single has once again taken the reggae world by storm. Riding on the top of the New York and Florida reggae charts for more than 7 weeks and counting, with Living in Love on the Hard Times Riddim (VP2272) produced by Stephen Gibbs and Errol Thompson, I Wayne has already proved himself to be a consistent hitmaker.Although he has seemingly burst onto the scene, this young artist has been refining his craft since age 7. Coming from a musical family, I Wayne had first made his venture into performance as a student at Greater Portmore High School, joining a local group Vibes Machine. The group, consisting of singers and DJs, used to perform afterwork parties at popular clubs like Cactus and Asylum. One night, the artist was forced to perform alone due to the fact that the rest of his bandmates were running extremely late. The response was tremendous, and I Wayne was motivated to perfect his solo act. He later moved on to chant with local sound systems like Diamond Cruise and The Legend, and has contributed significantly to the annual event in his hometown, Garveymeade, held on December 24th for the past 10 years. With an admitted affinity for love songs that highlight his ethnicity, I Wayne has a unique ability to compose and commit to memory all material without ever writing down a word for the recording session. In November of 2004, I Wayne signed a record deal with VP Records to release his debut album Lava Ground, which will be in stores summer of 2005. The album will include the two hit singles Cant Satisfy Her and Living in Love and the title track Lava Ground (which has already started to show up on some charts). His rise to the top of the reggae world is unprecedented, and has sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the industry for the next generation of roots and culture singers and songwriters.
