The Silvabak tribe are a formidable people, like all African tribes they share a strong family bond, sense of identity and a fearsome loyalty. What sets this tribe apart from other African tribes is that it was born outside of Africa.
“Being born in London to African parents, gives you an interesting perspective on thingsâ€, states Future “My parents are from the Ashanti tribe in Ghana, if I had been born and raised there I would probably see my tribe as separate and different from the other tribes in Ghana. But, where we’ve grown up and having traveled, we have been surrounded by many different tribal people from all over Africa and the world. It has shown us how similar peoples’ experiences can be in different places. This led to the birth of our own tribe, we have family members from the U.K, France, Germany, Belgium all over the U.S, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Congo, South Africa, the Caribbean, Pakistan, it’s worldwide.
“The name and image of the Silver back represents our approachâ€. Adds Machaira: Aggressive, loyal and protective of the family, like a Silver back gorilla. The Alpha male, a leader.
The music is a reflection of our ethos, we’ve spent the last few years between the U.K, the U.S and Africa so those are the main influences on the sound. We aim to mix English with the other languages we are surrounded by, on top of music that makes you visualize thingsâ€.
Silvabak also produce all of their own music and videos, "No Long ting we have a good family around us so we just do it all our selvs to done the talk"
