NAISDA Dance College is Australia's national Indigenous dance training institution.
It celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2005. Since its inception NAISDA has been instrumental in training Indigenous performers who have gone on to have highly successful careers in the performing arts including dance, music, theatre and film.
Bangarra Dance Theatre grew from NAISDA and many of NAISDA's alumni are working in the broader arts area, including arts management. Other graduates have fulfilled the important role of returning to their communities to set up community dance and performance groups.
NAISDA is a member of the Roundtable for Arts Training Excellence, (this includes the Australian Institute of Sport, NIDA and the Australian Film Television and Radio School). As such, NAISDA is funded as a "Centre of Excellence" by the Commonwealth Department of Communications, Information, Technology and the Arts. The College also receives support from the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) and receives support from the NSW Government through the NSW Ministry for the Arts and the Department of Education and Training.
NAISDA is a registered training organisation offering Certificates II, III and IV and a Diploma in Careers in Dance.
