About Me
Born & raised in Brooklyn NY, BK SLIM is the epitome of a Night-Life Superstar. He was 11 years old when he touched his first pair of turntables. Since those early teenage years, music has been his calling his name & till this day he continues to come to the rescue of those in dire need of musical entertainment.
At the age of 14, the Brooklyn-born DJ/Club Promoter began his quest for greatness when he started a local Caribbean DJ crew called Immaculate Sound. He began practicing daily, on a pair of Technics 1200s in a nearby Flatbush basement belong to his uncle DJ Joey. “Joey taught me a lot, my first few years. He was the man out there. I looked up to him. He was there in the beginning.â€
BK then began planning and playing for many local neighborhood block parties & house parties. His uncle had all the equipment for experimentation and had no problem lending a hand or a record for his nephew’s bashments. “I was always there. It was like I was obsessed with music. DJing, throwing parties, attending parties. I loved it!â€
It wasn't long before BK started thinking about making money from it all. After all, he was young, going through high school and he was determined. “I thought to myself yea, all this is cool and all, but what about some monetary compensation?†It was at this moment, he began making the blueprints for his future music/entertainment career.
"I already knew what I was going to be,†he said. “I already knew what I was going to do!†BK then went on to meeting the right people who would later help set the plan in motion, but a drastic change put all his plans on pause. “Mom dukes kicked me out da Crib!†Being raised in a Caribbean family, his parents had very little tolerance for mischief and hoodlums. “Basically I got into some shit, did some dirt, and my moms kicked my black ass out. I had to move down to Florida and stay with some cousins in West Palm Beach.â€
This was the turning point in BK’s personal life and as well as his career. He immediately noticed the lack of decent entertainment in Palm Beach and began to fill the void. “I did everything you can think of. I was DJing, I made mixtapes, I threw parties, I even open up two companies. One graphic design & printing company “5 Star Graphics†& one street promo/marketing company E-World Marketing Corp. (aka Guerilla Marketing) But most of all, I did favors.†BK understood the need for networking in his line of work and so he did all he could to satisfy his newly found friends and business partners. “Everybody needed something, and I knew how to do or get almost everything so it all worked out perfectly!â€
“The first thing I did was start to throw parties here and there. Some were lame at first but eventually everybody knew me and loved me so they all began to support. I was throwing sick parties and DJing at em. It was like a dream come true." But it wasn’t all easy. BK SLIM worked his way from being an unknown person in an unknown town, to being everybody’s best friend and most hated on DJ/Promoter in just a few years.
Some major highlights include his successful line of Dancehall Reggae Mixtapes “Mixology,†his Hip Hop series “Street Certified,†& the many events BK has brought to Miami & West Palm Beach. “I’ve done a lot so far. It’s still just the beginning but I’ve done a lot! Some of my parties & acts include Trina (Phantom Night Club), Island Sundays (Tuxedo Night Club), Beenie Man (Temptation Night Club), Junior Reid (Newcomb Hall), Vybez Kartel (Indian Reservation), Kiprich & Predator (Reggae Palace aka TKO), South Beach Saturdays (Jimmy’s Café), Tip-N-Touch Tuesdays (Phantom Night Club) and not to mention the many weekly parties that I’ve thrown to date.
Many people have lots to say, but very few have negative comments about BK SLIM. As a DJ / Promoter / Graphic Designer / Business Owner / Street Promoter, he is just about the hardest working man in the industry. With connections in all areas BK Slim just might very well be the individual you’ve been waiting for to make it all happen. “Like I always said man, this is just the beginning. I’m headed in one direction, and that’s on the way to the top, PERIOD! Whoever wanna come along with me might as well jump on now. Cause life’s short & there aint no time to waste!!!
