I am here for Dating, Serious Relationships, Friends and Networking

About Me

Up until August 29, 2005, I lived in The Lower Garden District of New Orleans on Magazine Street.
But that bitch Katrina sent me back to my roots, and I suddenly found myself in Greendale, WI. From there, I moved to St. Francis.
I guess I'm here....for now.
I miss my adopted home, tho'...all my friends...the bands...my hangouts..the culture.. the music...my routines...the food. Everything.
I miss it.
Now, I guess I'll be starting over. Again.
So, I'm half-assedly looking for a few local people I can call friends, or at least drinkin'-and-discussin' buddies. I don't think I'm changing everything in my profile just yet...can't quite bring myself to do it...so bear with me on the inconsistencies.
I love different types of humor....New Orleans...learning about new things.... people-watching...thunderstorms....random, odd things. I am delighted by simple things, like watching a child play, and fascinated by deep things, like the workings of quantum physics/mechanics. I love conspiracy theories, ancient ("secret") history, and other oddities of this reality.
I don't watch much TV; I prefer books.
I have two Siamese/Himalayan cats, brother and sister littermates.
I like writing, and am in the process of working on a book about New Orleans, pre and post Katrina.
I (used to) hang out/frequent the following places:
Lucky's; Checkpoint Charlie; Buffa's; Slice; St. Charles Tavern; Dockside (Metairie); Angeli's Deli; Donna's; Oswald's, Joe's Diner; Alleykatz/Blue Nile; 13. Basically, you'd find me on Frenchman Street, Esplanade Avenue, Decatur Street, Magazine Street or St. Charles Avenue.
I'd like to go to other places, but I'm somewhat of a homebody and like to be comfortable when I go out, and these places are like home to me.
In Milwaukee, I guess Fuel Cafe and Vnuk's is mostly where I'll be...perhaps Ray & Dot's...LuLu....Comet...Sven's, Bella's Fat Cat, Hi-Hat, The Palomino, Hi-Fi, Cempazuchi.....I dunno.
Nothing calls me here, and things are different than what I remember. And the people I used to know are mostly gone. I've lost touch with the local music scene here. The radio stations are all different, and my beloved WWOZ ain't on these airwaves, anyway.
I drink whiskey, Frangelico, and constantly test the limits of how much Wasabi and hot sauce I can stand.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'm always up for meeting new people, male or female. All the more choices for fascinating conversations and opportunities for catch-your-breath laughter marathons.
I am single, so if the right man presents himself, I would not be averse.
By "right man", I mean someone who is funny, intelligent, witty, charming in an old-school sorta way....can dress up or go casual...has a creative gene...who's not afraid to try new things....likes (but not obsessed with) sports....can hold his own on a variety of conversational topics, but does not always insist that he is right and/or dismisses other views out-of-hand.
Also, since I have a degree in English, I'm a bit of a stickler for spelling and punctuation. Sorry for sounding rude, but if you don't know the difference between "to", "too" and "two", or have problems beginning sentences with a capital letter and ending them with a period, question mark or exclamation point, I'd just as soon have you not contact me. Unless I already knew ya before myspace. Heh.
