We may not be as well known as some others, but interest is growing all the time as it dwindles from other places.
We thought that could change. We have a vision of a good all-round alternative night without politics, without bullshit and without any stigma attached to it at all. Hence no committee, no AGMs, and frankly no desire to turn this into a business. anything we make goes straight back into the night.
Starting out as 2 guys that met at a rock night somewhere in newcastle, we started working with bands but phased that out after a few months. we met and took on another member who was only with us a short time whils we worked monday nights at Legends once a month as part of the cage (under previous management) After this, a short partnership with another night fell through due to circumstances out of the control of Stripped. We would have been happy to continue.
At this point, Unbeliever and Rivethead became involved with a night "Contamination Radiation" which was unfortunately pushed into overkill, but was still one of the most entertaining noghts we ended up being a part of. Many thanks to John for giving us the spot and the spark on that one, and to current member Drill who worked with us then and has stuck with us since.
while working these nights at an out of the way venue (since demolished) Unbeliever ran ionto some good fortune due to a meeting with Razorsharp (to whom i'd also like to send out great thanks - and plug his label Orange Sync records) at the then thursday night Orange Sync Showcase at the stage door. one of the regular DJs didnt turn up, and Unbeliever took an opportuunity to give the one poor guy that was left to do the 10pm to 2AM night on his own a piss-break, and he soon became a regular part of the night that came to be known as "pumppump" playing electroclash, alt 80s and old school industrial, Unbeliever was there for 4 months before the nigth was taken over by a set of people that played less good music, and charged twice as much on entry. Christmas that year Stripped had its first impromptu night, basically, none of the other DJs turned up and 8 of us had the place to ourselves for 2 hours before the guys shut up shop...
Around the time that both pumppump and contamination radiation pegged out We met up with someone who would become an integral part of Stripped - Aurora. Someone with such great taste in music that it would be a crime for her to keep it to herself.
6 months on, we had a good 9 month run with the first actual advertised incarnation of Stripped as a night, the first one was on a thursday, and it got quite busy, when it shifted to a friday, we got more interest, but we all ended up working together better and better. (thanks to former manager Marty for the opportunity there) until unforseen circumstances brought that one to an end too.
12 months of thinking and detachment brings us up to easter this year. when we had our return night at The Cooperage. which led to us looking towards a monthly slot - middle floor cooperage last sunday of the month.
the first of these was june - and the last was august... we thank the cooperage for their support in this time, and we would like to say a big thanks to the guys at our new venue - The Globe (on railway street near to the arena) for hosting us since... so for the second FRIDAY of each month..."let me see you stripped down to the bone"
