I am Emelbi a musician based in West Yorkshire, England.
I am a singer / song writer producing acoustic music from an old beat up but faithful Gibson Epiphone.
My influences in terms of artists are vast and wide and far too many to count or mention, but my music has folk, blues, punk, reggae, rock and pop running through it in one form or another but mostly heavy on the folk and blues side of things.
I have been playing guitar for about 15 years now. Learning to play guitar changed my life, giving me a focus where I very much needed one at the time. Ever since I picked up a guitar from those first tentative chord strums to the music I play and produce today, I can honestly say that music has had an enormous effect on my life and has brought a huge amount of joy.
Through music I have met some amazing, fantastic and at times down right crazy people and I continue to meet brilliant and creative spirits who share the same passion as I do.
Music is a beautiful tool in terms of creativity and in learning to play I came to appreciate a vast amount of different music across all genres, purely because I began to see the skill and effort that music making and music production entails!
The songs that I write are soul-searching and very much a response to the world around me. They are from the heart and are often about the people I meet, friends I know, places I have been, situations I have been in and the outlook I have on life. There is an air of protest in them sometimes as I have always had, and always will have, a fire burning in my belly. I know the world is not a perfect place but it is a beautiful place. I know it’s our home and the only one we have got, but occasionally when I get frustrated with it I try and steer that frustration into creating something positive. I suppose it’s a nice way of throwing a bit of colour at something that can at times appear a bit dull and grey!
All creativity is a gift. It is up to us as individuals to make it a beautiful gift!
Love and peace to you all.
