Syld Global is a global electronic music talent hunt network. It started in 2003 as a support project of the Final Flash festival, one of the major annual electronic music events on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast. Due to the great interest of new up-coming electronic music artists to perform on such an event a concept of all-national best new DJ contest was designed. FFA (the festival’s organizers) got in partnership with Psilon Empire group that carried out the activities on field in Slovenia. The project consists of a series of events around the country that function as “best DJ contests”, where the final “winners” get a performance spot alongside with world recognized electronic music artists at the music part of the Final Flash festival. From a national Slovenian project SYLD grew into an international venture that includes connections to different countries and continents. In 2005 Final Flash started a SYLD based booking partnership with Israel’s ILTA Agency, and later with UK’s R3ToX for cross-promotion and expanding the SYLD concept beyond the European mainland. The overall winner of the 2006 series is also entitled to get promoted and perform in at one of R3ToX events in UK. The UK series started in Fall 2006, while the South African SYLD series are ready to kick-start under local supervision of Vibrant Players electronic music events promotions group.
