****PLEASE READ CAREFULLY****
Here it is, the 1st Mixtape in the “Burgh†that will finally bring all sides together for one HOT mixtape/CD. I’ve been here for almost 13 years (shout out to San Antonio Texas) and I do consider Pittsburgh home. But the one thing that we have yet to do is put somebody on the map as far as the music scene is concerned. This is about to change!! It’s not because we don’t have the talent…we do! It’s not because we don’t have people that don’t know what they are doing…I give most people credit and say they do. The thing that I have seen is that there is not enough people who are working TOGETHER to make it happen for all of us. The saying “United we stand, divided we fall†has never been more true. Real rap, Pittsburgh has far too long been divided when it comes to this music thing. It’s now time we unite.
The idea is to create an underground circuit mixtape in Pittsburgh that can reach the masses, with the potential of gaining national exposure. Let Me Break This Thang Down!
THA BREAK DOWN:
Actually the way I look at it is easy. First of all I know that many of the artists here have had complaints about WAMO not supporting local artist. That’s not the truth! It has everything to do with the fact that not many few people have stepped to WAMO correctly. Look, dropping a CD off with sharpie marker writing on it is dumb! It doesn’t look professional and it’s cheap! You have to be creative and better than everyone else around you. On top of that my homie J-Kruz is banging it out every Monday with fire!! Step your game up!
Secondly, create your own “buzzâ€. There are a number of ways to do that so I will leave that part up to you. I will say this, think outside the box and see what you come up with. Figure out ways of letting people know who you are. Just try it and see what you come up with.
And lastly, your product has to be HOT! I know most of you are saying “My stuff is hot!†Well here is one way to really figure it out. If you and your boys are the only ones who are saying you are hot…? I’ll let you come up with the rest!
Anyhow all I am saying is that you have to have all 3 in order to make yourself visible. Most of the times people have the gifting but no structure, or they may have the “know how†but lack the real talent. You have to have it all work for you. Oh remember, nothing replaces hard work! Ok, I am done with that speech.
My aim is simple. Give all those who really are good a place for them to be heard on a regular bases. This is where the “mixtape†comes in. Now truth is told, no one is bigger in Pittsburgh than WAMO. Like it or love it, it’s the truth. So let’s let the major voice speak on the behalf of all the others. This is why we have to connect! I am now ready to create a place that will make Pittsburgh stand up and take notice.
Here is the plan. I want to put only the hottest music coming from the hottest artist on my Mixtape. I want to put everybody who is willing to invest in themselves and their gifts on my shoulders and ride. With that being said I am opening up the mixtape to the entire Pittsburgh area. Here’s how it goes down.
I am allowing anyone who wants to submit a song to me a chance to be on my Mixtape. But there are a few requirements in order to be apart of this project:
THA INSTRUCTIONS
1. This CD will be given away and not sold. So in order to cover the cost of putting this CD out, anyone who wants to submit a song must pay 40.00. (I think that is very small in compared to the exposure you will get in the end). Now the 40.00 (entry fee) ONLY GETS YOU A CHANCE TO BE ON THE MIXTAPE AND DOESN'T GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL BE ON IT!!! I am only looking for FIRE. So once all the submissions are in (deadline TBA). I will sit down with my crew and we will decide which is the hottest of the hottest and THOSE SONGS WILL BE PUT ON "Tha Tee Connectionâ€. If you have more than one song you would like to submit the cost will be 65.00 (even if you have 5 songs, still only 65.00) Keep in mind that there will be no refunds on the submission fee!! So if you don't make it on this one, I will have others, get your game up! Aiight?
2. The music has to be brand new and original. And like I said earlier...IT HAS TO BE HOTT!!! I am not looking for something that you did a few months ago or even yesterday. I want stuff that is hot of the press. I want to be the first to present your music, so that NO ONE has heard it. NO ONE. (If you need studio time, let me know. I do have a studio that will give major discounts for me if you are trying to be on this project with me.)
3. It has to be uplifting and positive. I am not looking for Will Smith type stuff but I am looking for something that I will not be ashamed to listen to in front of my mother, who does likes all kinds of music. This mixtape will include all types of expressions. I'm talking about rap, reggae, R&B and spoken-word over music. Even if you have a slow jam you want to submit, I will see what I can do for you. Your music also has to be "radio clean"!! Do you hear me? It has to be "Radio Clean". There is a huge possibility that your music will be on the radio, if it's not clean...guess what? IT WON'T GET PLAYED.
Ok, there you go. I am pretty much done with all of this for now. I really want you to be down with me as I put Pittsburgh on my back and "rock out". So let me hear from you as soon as you can.
