Ok...Its time for a "little about me". Little is a great adjective. Though some would say my 5 feet tall, small frame, would constitute me as being “little†I would like to bring forth a new adjective…compact!
When people ask me where I am from my reply is usually, “pick a year.â€
Growing up as a military brat, I had the opportunity to travel around the United States and Europe…Spreckenze Duetch? (No? me either) After 25 years in the service, my father retired in Alabama, which for me brought a whole new meaning to “Sweet Home Alabamaâ€. Playing hide-n-seek in “Cornelius Vineyard†(Nanny and Paw-pa to me), spending time at Cold Water Creek, and somehow managing to incorporate “y’all†into my vocabulary became a way of life. Aww the good ol days..what am I talking about? I still do those things!
At this point one might be asking themselves how Danielle made it all the way from Weaver, Alabama to San Francisco, California. Well, it’s quite simple. I drove! That is, after I graduated top of my class and received “Best in Show†from The Art Institute of Atlanta with my Bachelors degree in Photographic Imaging. (Boy, that’s a mouth full!)
After three years of being a Product photographer I left the dark studio when I found myself surrounded by little people in suits and fancy dresses. No, this wasn’t a nightmare! I was shooting a wedding for a friend, we ALL know how that goes, and there were children everywhere! I found myself playing pick-a-boo, making noises I never thought I could make, laughing…what was this? Why, I was even having fun! Their little laughs, their little faces, their little expressions. The genuine love and affection that exudes from a child motivated and excited me! Inspired by these compact individuals who can bring a smile to the gloomiest person in the room, I embarked on a new path to be a Children’s Photographer and love every minute of it!
So…that’s a “little about meâ€. Compact.
