THE SKINNY ON THE POLARIS MUSIC PRIZE
The Polaris Music Prize is an adjudicated $20,000 award presented on an annual basis to the creators of a full-length Canadian album. The prize is awarded based solely on artistic merit without regard to genre or records sales. THE JURY
The Long List and Short List are determined by an independent jury of more than 200 Canadian music journalists, broadcasters and music bloggers from across Canada. Eleven people are selected from the larger jury pool to serve on the grand jury. The grand jury will convene at the historic Concert Hall on September 20th during the Polaris Music Prize Gala to select the 2010 winner.

The jury is selected entirely of music journalists, broadcasters, bloggers and media personnel. No one with a direct financial interest in musical artists (i.e. managers, record labels, agents and music publishers) are involved in the selection process.
