Alice in Wonderland, just about anything by Stephen King (especially the Dark Tower series), Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels, Jean Auel's Earth Children series, Shogun by James Clavell, the Harry Potter books, the Douglas Adams Hitchhiker's "trilogy," Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, and my new favorite is The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
