The Lyndells began life in 1964 in the college town of Rolla, Missouri. Gary Cooper (lead guitar), Larry McFerrin (bass), Bill Gilbert (drums), and Bill Keys (keyboard and trumpet) were pals with a mutual interest in music and officially formed the band. They recorded their frat rock MONSTER,`KAPO`live at the Theta Chi fraternity sometime in 1965/6.An earlier recorded moody instro, `Contentment` was used for the flip for a pressing of 100 45`s for friends.Apparantly only 5 or 6 copies survived those wild college years.........K.A.P.O was an abreviation in the fraternity for meaning "knock a piece off".
