Jah Eye

About Me

Through original riddims and imformative and inspirational lyrics, Jah Eye is reaching out to a world that sometimes seems devoid of love. With a message of justice, equality, righteousness and love this singer, songwriter and producer is continuing the Rastafari roots tradition of music as a tool for change. Growing up in Los Angeles during the turbulent 1960's and 70's, Jah Eye was exposed to political assasinations (JFK, Malcolm X, Medger Evers, Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King), the civil rights and anti war protests, riots, political corruption (watergate), and liberation movements in the US (Black Panthers, Nation of Islam etc.) and abroad (Africa, Iran, Palistine, Northern Ireland etc.). In the midst of all this Jah Eye was also being inspired by some of the best music ever created. While much of the soul and rock music of the time was socially conscious, it was his introduction to the reggae music that was coming out of Jamaica and England during the mid to late 70's that would influence Jah Eye the most. This music introduced Jah Eye to Rastafari which gave him a clearer view of himself and his purpose. During the next twenty years Jah Eye raised children, worked as a photographic artist (documenting the art and culture of Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago), and was owner of two different roots shops in the LA area. In 2001 through the insperation of the Most High, Jah Eye began work on his first CD. Released in 2003, ISIGHT was a return to original roots music, a stark contrast to all of the cover riddims that were being released at the time. ISIGHT features conscious revolutionary and spiritually enlightened music with a message of universal love and overstanding. The follow up CD, WORLD WIDE DECEPTION, released in 2004 deals with the state of mankind post 911 as we head deeper into armageddon. Currently Jah Eye is working on his third CD entitled RASTA MUSIC. Featuring legendary reggae artists U Roy, Chinna Smith and Santa Davis, and mixed at the famous Radio Recorders studio in Los Angeles, this CD is destined to be Jah Eye's strongest release to date.
