Jason Kennedy was born in S.F. and left for NYC when he was 22. Trained in Jazz performance (FTC) and Music Education (T.C. / Columbia), he is a full time music teacher in Harlem and he loves it. Now, with all the studies finally over, and settling into his career, Jason is now very eager to collaborate and get back into a music scene he once left in the S.F. Bay Area. "I just want the world to know I am here and that I do exist, before it's too late and my time is up. Though my attempts may be putrid, I am trying to make a contribution in the form of a ..ary of my continued growth as a human being, using all that I know how to be, including my lame sense of humor."My father sang "My country girl" once in a car ride a long time ago. I don't remember the lyrics he used but he and one of his many wives made it up while driving to Disneyland. I remembered the melody and put chords to it. Rebecca Kim, who is a super talented pianist and an amazing teacher, helped me with the turnaround. She is also the pianist on "Mama Said Come Home" which is a song I have yet to make a decent recording of.Check out Rebecca at: http://www.myspace.com/Rm.500.Kimberly Tan is heard playing the violin on "My Country Girl" when she decided to join us after work one day. Kim is playing irish music with a guitarist whom I dont know, but you should check her out at: http://www.myspace.com/kimbertan.Shane Bordeaux is heard playing guitar and singing backup vox on "My Country Girl".
"Shane is an incredibly creative musician and a great friend. It has always been fun playing with him, from the very first chord to the last note. I am saddened that he is moving away from NYC but I know he is on a path he must take."
Check out Shane's music at http://www.myspace.com/shanebordeau.The song "Carried Away" is an adaptation to a song Jason wrote years and years ago in California with Ryan Boggs, a powerful bass player and friend. "It was a love song for an incredible woman who changed my life forever."This new adaption of "Carried away" (once called "A Lady") has Nana Schwartzlose on Lead Vocals. Nana is a wonderful rock singer and lives in Denmark where she gigs on a full time basis.Check her out here: http://www.myspace.com/nanaschwartzlose.
All songs were recorded in my living room that has no furniture. I used the built-in Mic on my Powerbook, and for "To Be 'D'" I plugged direct into my laptop. Soon I will be getting better recording equipment to releive some of the ear strain.
