I am here for Friends

About Me

I recently graduated with my MA in history from CSUF. In September, I will begin work on my PhD at UCR. In the meantime, I am working on a project that evaluates the teaching of American history at local high schools and junior highs while trying to catch up on reading all of the assorted books I have collected over the past few years. When I am not working on history-related things, I do enjoy creative writing. I don't write too much myself anymore but I do give feedback to a few friends on some of their projects. If anyone wants me to read their stories, I would probably do so...as long as I like whoever is asking me, heh. So just don't insult me in the process of asking or something.I do plan to write some more on my own at some point though. I think I enjoy writing humor the most since I have more fun doing that. It is also good to know that I was able to crack someone up. There are too many things in this world that are depressing without me adding some other grim tale to the mix.I used to watch a great deal of TV news but I seldom do so anymore since so much of it is fluff. Too much time is spent beating various stories to death and that makes the whole thing a waste of time in my view.I am also a bit of a science nut. I admit that I am not as good with the mathematics as those who have a full understanding of everything but I do like to read the science news to see what is happening in the fields of astronomy and paleontology.I have a pet bird named Pepper. I don't think he pays that much attention to me; I am just the strange figure that brings food.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who want to add me to their friend lists....so click! :pBut if anyone thinks I look interesting and you want to send me a friend request or a message, feel free. I really am not sure why anyone would do such a thing but the offer is there just the same. Even if you only want a suggestion on a research project, you should still send me a note. Or if you just want to chat to someone who has a sense of humor--or at least thinks he does--you should still send me a note. If you would prefer to use messenger, you can reach me on AIM at crusaderoflight3 or on Yahoo at blueenigma456I do value honesty though. I have had too many bad experiences with people not being open with me so I would prefer to avoid that in the future. On a similar note, I do sometimes message people I do not know just because I think they look like they would be neat to get to know. If you are one of those people and you have now read my profile and think I am about as fascinating as paint drying on a wall, just tell me that you are not interested and I will let you be.

Music:

Mainly classical. I know that is kind of an odd response but that is me. I think it is just because I like reflective pieces. I do like some current stuff too but that is mainly when I need something to do a few exercises to or something. If I am just relaxing or driving in my car, I will put on some classical music.

Television:

The Simpsons, Are You Being Served?, baseball games, Babylon 5, DS9

Books:

With the Old Breed by E.B. Sledge, The Phlippine War by Brian McAllister Linn, Ordinary Courage by Thomas Plumb Martin, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy by Douglas Adams, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, The Black Regulars by Dobak and Philllips, and a number of books by Mark Twain
