R.I.P.S
story began in the hot summer of '05 in the new city of Washington DC. By new, I'm referring to the million dollar condos and upscale boutiques which replaced the gospel churches and after-hour joints. It's a good thing the R.I.P.S are here too, if only to remind the new neighbors of the grittier, more soulful streets and alleys of the former "rock'n'roll part of town". You see, before the R.I.P.S, there was The Phobes , DC's finest poverty jetsetters, led by Eric Litts. After their eight year run ended, Litts began the R.I.P.S with any remaining rockers struggling to stay in the new 14th street hood. After realizing there were not as many to be found, Litts relocated to Philadelphia, using the move as a new catalyst. He joined the Get Quick for one album released on Rainbow Quartz Records and another album with The Chance before breaking away full-time with the R.I.P.S.
Though the mod, punk and garage-rock influences of The Phobes will not be forgotten, the R.I.P.S hear a more americana groove beat. Perhaps a bit too gritty and whiskey-scented for the new neighbors, but cool enough to make them wanna move.
