"I am whatever I can get away with being... leave something witchy"... CM

Joey Debbs ain’t your average above-average drummer. With a style somewhere in between technical brilliance and groove belligerence, Debbs borrows from a past tradition of swing drumming and infuses it with something dangerous.
Joey’s abilities range from intense and dramatic fills (reminiscent of Keith Moon), to the most relaxed and hypnotizing of shuffles. His blueprint involves learning, achieving mastery and purposely forgetting. This is what makes his style both unique and refreshingly new.
The best example of his fluidity between dynamics is the 6-minute blues epic “Lift the Stormâ€... a song that was written mostly “on the fly†in the recording studio. The drums on this track were recorded in one take & declared to be the best on the entire album by Producer Jim Bower (Down, Crowbar, EyeHateGod). The song’s minor chord progression, it’s mournful base line and the empowered vocals all owe to Joey’s “on the spotâ€, commanding performance. A performance exercised with patience and restraint beyond the young drummers years.
Aside from his musical position in the band, Debbs is also an educated artist/animator and provides the band with all it’s imagery.
His influences include Keith Moon, Stanton Moore, Tim Alexander, Dale Crover, Ringo Starr & Gene Krupa.
