Justin was a playful little guy who loved to play with his sister Kayla and his many cousins, aunts and uncles. On a trip to Atlanta in May of 1997 Justin became very ill so his parents brought him to the emergency room where Justin was diagnosed with a form of meningitis. Sadly Justin lost his battle with the illness and passed away on May 20, 1997. He was only 2 years old. His grieving father one day while watching tv learned that it was possible to adopt a park in their city. so Roy and Michele contacted the town officials and decided they would redo a whole park in Rutland in honor of there son Justin. After months of fund raising they gathered up more than 35,000 dollars for all new equipment, through many businesses and private donations. In the summer of 1998 they opened the new park with help from many volunteers. Howard Dean was at the opening along with many other politicians and all of Justin's relatives. The park has now been open for 9 years and every year Justin's parents do an annual up keeping of the park. The park was built in the memory of there son Justin with hopes that many families would enjoy the park. We hope that you will visit the park, it's a wonderful place to spend time with your kids. If you would like to donate to the Justin Thomas memorial fund for the up keeping of the park, please e-mail for details. Thank You and enjoy
