H.I.M. (His Infernal Majesty), a band from Finland. The band is formed in 1991 by the frontman and songwriter/vocalist 'Ville Valo', bassist Mikko 'Migé' Paananen and guitarist Mikko 'Linde' Lindström. They are started as a cover band, with songs from great artists/bands like 'Type O Negative', 'Black Sabbath', 'Depeche Mode' and 'Kiss'. Soon, after bandmembers left the band, there were new members needed. Soon after that, drummer Mika Kristian "Gas" Karpinne became member in 1999 and keyboarder Janne Johannes "Burton" Puurtinen in 2001. In 1995, the band has created some great demo's, but that was only the beginning. In 1996, the band has made a huge stap, by making their first EP '666 Ways To Love: Prologue'. There were only made 1000 copies of that disc. HIM wanted more and released their first album 'Greatest Lovesong Vol. 666' on November 20, 1997. That disc features the cover of Chris Isaac's 'Wicked Game'. In 1999 HIM's second album 'Razorblade Romance' released and so their gaining popularity in Europe. That disc features the populair song 'Join Me In Death' and 'Right Here In My Arms'. In 2000, there were released a second version of Razorblade Romance, featuring a ('Live @ Werchter Festival 07.01.2000). 'Join Me In Death' was very populair in the UK. Razorblade Romance reached the USA, but HIM don't had the permission to use their name, because their was already a band with the name 'HIM'. HIM became 'HER' in USA. Soon, the full rights were bought back, by HIM. In 2001 their third album 'Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights' released. The 'Limited Edition' of DS&BH features 2 extra songs: 'You Are The One' and 'In Love And Lonely'. In 2003, HIM released their fourth studio album 'Love Metal'. That disc features fameous songs like 'The Sacrament', 'Funeral Of Hearts' and 'Buried Alive By Love'. Well, in 2004 the band released another album, called 'And love Said No'. It's the greatest hits 1997-2004. The disc contain a cover of Neil Diamond's 'Solitary Man'. In 2005, the lastest and fifth album 'Dark Light' has been released. The disc features the fameous songs 'Rib Out The Wings Of A Butterfly', 'Vampire Heart' and off cource 'Killing Loneliness'. In 2006, H.I.M. is the first and only Finnish Rock Band to sell 'Gold' in the United States with the album 'Dark Light'. It's 2006 and H.I.M. will bring out 'Uneasy Listening Vol. 1' and later 'Uneasy Listening Vol. 2'. The discs containes remixed songs and some live versions. Now it's 2007, and many fans are dieing to get their latest and sixth Studio-Album 'Venus Doom'. The release-date for Europe is 09.17.2007 and for USA is that 09.18.2007. This Album can be bought in 3 version: 'Standard Edition', 'Special Edition' AND 'Limited Edition'!!. Was that enough for H.I.M.?? No! Planned was to release in 2007 a live recording CD + DVD ''Live at The Orpheum Theatre''. This show was given in 2007 too. After a long waiting, the release became in 2008 and it was a huge success! Now it's 2009, and HIM announced there will be a next album 'Screamworks : Love In Theory And Practice'. This scheduled release-date for this masterpiece will be on Valentine's Day 2010.
