Nothing Left But Hope

Disappointment and disillusionment since 1976

About Me

Coasting along... rocking out... waiting to die... hopefully happy.

My Interests

Picking people apart Compudering Spelling Smelling like fresh daisies Being depressed Consuming vast arrays of chemicals and surviving, brain intact Exploding and surviving, face intact Gymnastics and surviving, neck intact Falling off of mountains and surviving, bones intact Counting to ten Kicking ass and surviving, so far Eating Cooking Being disgusting Breaking down your morals Clandestine operations Arguing Pooping! Convincing people that they're incorrect, true or not Writing depressing poems, songs, and music Putting emotions aside Efficiency Apathy Trying in vain Whittling Watching C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhaüser gate Holding my breath Feeding honey to infants under 1 Throwing caution to the wind

Music:

Too much to list. Most things before 1994. Some things after. No country or rap, with a few exceptions.

Movies:

Too many to list, most of them from the '80s. If it has an actor from Friends, it's very probable that I hate it. The same goes for any of the breakouts from SNL since 1990.

Television:

HAH! What a waste of time!

Books:

Books are for people who need to borrow other people's ideas. Anyhoo, here are some authors: Asimov, Philip K. Dick, Kernighan and Ritchie, Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, Poe, Raoul Duke, Bruce Schneier, etc. etc. etc.

My Blog

American Hyopcrite

It's my half-birthday today.  I lived six more months.  As time progresses, these little things mean more.  It's also the 90th anniversary of the first Chicago Cubs game.  It's a T...

Re: strange, isn't it?

I figured I'd make this a blog entry, too, so it doens't get lost in the depths of bulletin land... This is my response to a myspace bulletin that will of course be greeted with animosity and vitriol,...

It can't be that bad

At breakfast today, I thought to myself, "Fuck.  I'm pretty happy that I haven't heard a Mighty Mighty Bosstones song in at least a year." Up until now, I have been beneath their suspicionI coul...

self-aggrandizing astrology post .1

Amazing.  It describes me so well!  I bet all of the other ones do, too, but they surely don't sound as kickass.  Go Librans!   Born on a cusp: Libra-Scorpio Libra is the seventh S...

With a step to your left and a flick to the right

In exactly one week I will be on a plane waiting to take off to Rio de Janeiro.  I'm going to sit on the beach for five days in the not too hot weather, away from work, Americans (I hope), a cell...

one use for junk mail

I just started making a rubberband ball today from all of the junk mail bundles we get every day at my building.  It's already getting out of hand, and just from one day!

My body thanks me

I've been pretty horrible to myself lately, and I figure that now's a good time for some updates to what I do when I want to waste time and follow up with my escapist tendencies that come out when I'm...
