This is the email my friend Geri sent to her friends the day after
Sammy recieved his tourism award. James
The other day while Kevin was reading the local paper, he noticed an
announcement that there was a festival going to happen called "Rhythm,
Colors & Sounds under the full moon light" and during this festival
"Sammy Hagar" was going to be honored as a tourism promoter for the
local Los Cabos' Community and that he was going to be there to
perform. Well, that spurred James and Kevin in action, since Sunday
they have been trying to get tickets to this local private event.
They drove all over everywhere from Los Cabos to San Jose Del Cabo
trying to locate tickets. They were successful in finding out where
the event was going to be held and the cost $80 per person and that
the festival was going to consist of many local restaurants rolling
out the red carpet (much like the "Bite of Seattle") Anyway, finally
after speaking really horrible Spanish and begging and pleading and
consistency of calling and getting the same Spanish speaking people,
FINALLY, yesterday at 3:00 pm we were delivered 6 tickets via courier
to our condo. We had met other Sammy Hagar fans at the pool who also
attended this with us. We left the condo about 5 pm on our way to the
beach and parking was a run around, but we looked at it as an
adventure.......to our final destination.....Sammy. We entered the
tented area about 7pm and realized that there was the best of the best
restaurants in Cabo attending this event. There were about 25 tents
housing the best food and drink that Cabo has to offer. As we were
just beginning to munch down, low and behold Kevin looked around and
said, "Awwww, someone even brought their little kids", little did he
know but Laura turned and said, "OH, my gosh that is Sammy Hagar's
wife and their two daughters, and there he was....Sammy, a little
shorter than what he looks like on stage, but nonetheless Sammy
Hagar...in the flesh....I couldn't believe it, he was right in front
of us. James jumped up with Kevin following with a camera, we got pic
after pic of James and his idol, Sammy.....The night just got
better...Sammy mingled through the crowd as if it was just normal and
this was his private party...It was great. Also set up on the beach
was a private company that brought in their $35,000 telescope focused
on different parts of the sky showing many different star clusters,
etc. It was truly a night to remember. After Sammy received his
award, they shot off tons of fire works it felt as if it was 4th of
July, absolutely fantastic, we were star struck for hours and the
event was surely something to remember. Sammy performed one song
only "Mas Tequila" which was awesome and his house band from the Cabo
Wabo performed until 11:00, perfect night.....
