ABOUT THE BAND
The Goodbye Notes specialise in acoustic pop and ballads, featuring the voice of Barbara Fordham. Their first album TENDER DOCUMENT (2000), is now re-released in a 2nd edition. Their long-awaited second album, REASONS TO STAY, will be released in July 2009.
THE GOODBYE NOTES’ name is intrinsically linked to the subject matter of their songs: if they’re not about nearly finding somebody they’re about losing them. But don’t get the idea this band plays sad songs – their delivery is so positive, there’s no way you can leave with a sinking heart. (Eileen Dick, Live Review, Time Off.)
Compared by Rhythms Magazine’s Tony Hillier (2001) as “…reminiscent of Everything but the Girl and Joni Mitchell†with songs that “…should appeal to anyone who loves the likes of Ron Sexsmith and Stephen Cummings." The band is built around “the striking voice of Barbara Fordham… she is best known as a singer of R & B and soul but she has truly found herself in these settings, with the rich honey of her vocals the perfect complement to the mature perspectives of the songwriting.†(Noel Mengel,Courier Mail)
TENDER DOCUMENT NOW RE-RELEASED. Described as “great rock-pop record that’s as addictive as one of its standout tracks – chocolate, red wine, coffee and cigarettes.â€, their acclaimed debut album TENDER DOCUMENT was re-released in 2007 a second edition. It's available at gigs and via ROCKINGHORSE RECORDS http://www.rockinghorse.net/, and will soon be available online in an expanded version.
