Al-Fray is one of Kingston’s top new music sensations. Known for his musical back ground and his skills on the football field, Al-Fray released his debut single "Parents Concern" in 2004. Fray, who is the son of ‘the Creator’, a former member of the dynamic Jamaican band the Mighty Travelers, grew up with his mother, father and two brothers on the fringes of the volatile Kingston 11 community. He attended the Norman Manley High School, where he was part of the victorious Manning Cup football team in 1996. His outstanding performance as a high school footballer propelled him to become a National footballer, playing with such clubs as Arnett Gardens, Waterhouse and presently Boys’ Town. His performance has not escaped the eyes of the national coaches as he has played for National teams at the under 17, under 20 and under 23 levels. The ultimate aim for this very humble young man is to take his music to the highest level. His idol in the music business has always been Bounty Killer, but ironically it has been Beenie Man who has given him opportunities to perform on shows. It was also "The Doctor" who sent him to the studio to record his first 45. Al-Fray also gets support from his brother, who is a disc jockey, and his father. To date, the biggest Jamaican show which Fray has performed on was Summer Sizzle. He has also performed in Hollywood at a birthday party for Mikey Spice, in which he received rave reviews. While Al-Fray's early lyrics were gun lyrics, his current flavour is cultural music, which he believes coupled with his unique voice sets him apart from most young artistes.
This very focused, young artiste chooses to sing cultural music primarily because it preaches love. He also believes that, at a time when society is experiencing a surge in crime and violence, he has a role to play in guiding and encouraging people with a positive message.Alberto Fray is one of Kingston’s newest and hottest sensations
