About Me
Road Worm Music was founded in 2001 by Florida
artists Bill Pillmore and Jess Pillmore. The label started out of
necessity, they had music that was ready to be heard and the drive to
support it independently. Co-Founder, Bill Pillmore, took
his knowledge of the major labels (as a founding member of '70's folk
rock band Cowboy on Capricorn Records) and built his own studio and
label to support his alternative americana vision. Road Worm
currently has four strong voices in its catalog spanning the East Coast
from Florida to NYC.
Artists on the Road Worm label include:
Ron Morris - "Speak True" marks
the debut CD for NY singer/songwriter, Ron Morris. Known for his
intimate storytelling and infectious point of view, Morris is a
performer to be reckoned with. His upbeat folk-pop is making waves on
regional radio programs, and is featured on the nationally syndicated
This Way Out and Sirius Satellite Radio. "His lyrics are simple,
earnest, and from the heart, and hes got the voice to match." PM
Magazine notes, Its simultaneously vulnerable yet strong, yearning
yet reassuring.
Bill Pillmore - Bill was a
founding member of Cowboy, an early Capricorn band, signed to the label
at the insistence of Duane and Gregg Allman, who had played and jammed
with various members in their early days. He was a contributing
songwriter on "Reach for the Sky" and the critcally acclaimed "Five'll
Getcha Ten". 25 years later, Pillmore emerged from the void after
putting together his own digital recording studio, The Worm Hole, in
St. Augustine, FL. His debut solo album, "Look In Look Out" has
already made waves on NPR's nationally syndicated show 'Car
Talk". "Soft, plaintive ballads and folk- and country-tinged
tunes, " (Frank Gultch Jr. review).
Jess Pillmore - Jess'
original brand of folktronica is crystallized in the eagerly awaited
release, "Reveal". Following "Slightly Skewed", Pillmores
well-received sophomore project, "Reveal" pairs music industry hard
hitters Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos, David Bowie, Fiona Apple) and
Viktor Krauss (Union Station, Lyle Lovett) with a songwriter who has
been called striking and daring lyrically and literally (KGPR 89.9 FM).
Singer/songwriter Jess Pillmore's deep, husky alto, with its rich
tonal quality is the ace card, writes Splendid e-zine, she'd
certainly rip up the stage.
Mark Williams - Haunting
melodies and poetic lyrics are Mark's signature. On the CD "Ghosts of
Eden" Mark captures the soulful fire of his live performances. He uses
guitars, harmonica, cellos, violins and steel guitar to convey raw
emotion without sounding like over-polished corporate
pop-rock. "When Mark is playing live, he tends to get
all wrapped up in it and pulls in the audience with his energy," Bill
Pillmore said. "I am really impressed with his focus. He has the focus
to take the music deeper."
