Laura Lost are a band from South England. Front girl Laura started the band after losing a finger at a Pixies gig which was gnarly!! They write music for extreme sports. They don't have a specific genre, but their style ranges from punk/indie to pop/surf. The band love to surf, snowboard and feel happiest playing at parties in the mountains and by the sea.
Laura Lost have been lucky enough to play the Austrian Snowbombing festival, The London Astoria before its closure and tour the UK and Europe. Their first ever self-released EP was aired on National Radio 1s Huw Stephens show and won the band a trip Ibiza for songwriting talents from Overplay. Laura Lost music is currently used by Freesports on 4 and Animal clothing.Laura Lost are stoked to announce they will be rocking it for etnies all summer in Hossegor ,France!!
The band is currently gone surfing, and will be rocking the party tonight!!!!

With stark photos against decaying urban backdrops and more than a smattering of distressed typefaces on her website and CD sleeves, Laura Lost seems keen to embrace her punk heritage.
The songs on this ep have an impact that comes more from their originality, wit and nose for a killer melody. Lead track Nancy opens the show and its a perfect study in bubblegum bitchiness. Against a twinkly riff, frontwoman Laura rails against a girl who gets in everywhere and has done everything there is to be done. With an almost-spoken word vocal, the whole thing has the playful spite of Mike Skinner. Finally though, the band cant hold out any longer and amp up the aggression for pounding punky outro. Do one! screams Laura with a passion that still cant quite lose a little bit of a grin. Its cheeky, catchy top flight entertainment. And, to be honest, weve probably all met a Nancy at one time or another. The next track couldnt be less similar if it was a Bavarian rave odyssey. Suffer Lover bristles with windswept fury as a screeching guitar resurrects the Charlatans riff from Weirdo over a fat 12-string and towers of gothic majesty. Its Linkin Park meets Sisters of Mercy, but things change once more with the slow, fuzzed-up magic of Ice Lady. The falsetto vocal and floaty guitars have all the gritty sparkle of Lush or Throwing Muses, only to fade too soon at less than three minutes. Finally, things reach meltdown with the simple, loud and outrageously hook-heavy Troublemaker. Its full-pelt punk with a bratty, shouty vocal that sounds like X-Ray Spex vs Shaun Ryder on helium. Doubtless a live favourite, this is rock n roll in the raw. But like everything here, Laura Lost has put a lot of thought into making it look easy.

My friend recommended I listen to them, and I enjoyed their music. They’ve
written several quality songs, including the www.overplay.com unsigned song
of the year Tragic, which won the group a trip to Ibiza. Influenced by the
Pixies and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, their other work includes Suffer Lover, Nancy
and Graffiti (which Radio 1 liked so much they aired it)
I’m not a fan of the punk rock or heavy drumming, but I’m a fan of talent,
which is what I like about them. They sound good, Personally I think
if Girls Aloud can be a success – and lets be honest, they both look and
sound like melting plastic – then logically, LauraLost should have no
problem.

Laura Lost however are another matter entirely. On their new 'Nancy' EP three of the tracks are their trademark heavy indie rock, only set apart from the herd by the female vocalist. Of these 'Suffer Lover' marks an improvement on their last EP, featuring some great metal guitar work, good drumming and fine screaming. It's the title track that stands head and shoulders above the rest. A marked departure in style, it's one that suits them down to the ground. Imagine if Eddie Argos from Art Brut had a bratty little sister and you have this song. It's a song about the pressures of having a cool friend, in which the spoken word invective builds as the singer loses patience and explodes into a rant. Quite brilliant.
"The mag reviews" - It's hard not to smile when you hear this youthful band; they've got charisma and a great sense of fun injected into their punk-rock style. Despite the title 'Tragic', the first track picks up your spirits, which has probably something to do with the bold female vocals. In fact, it's an EP where each song stands out in its own right with a certain something that makes it catchy. They don't give you a break, it's non-stop chaos, yet the often softness of the lead vocals makes it about as approachable as a kitten.
You can feel the stereotypical teenage angst in 'Graffiti'; it's got that kind of 'screw you' front to it. 'House' is surprisingly a beautiful track, possibly the best of the album, and offers a big change from the rest of the EP. It's probably the guitar work that makes this track stand out so well and, paired with the vocals, it becomes quite moving.
This EP is fresh and exciting. The clarity of the vocals works so well with their music, it's one of those rare times a female voice doesn't get drowned out by the punchy guitars.
Lauralost are simply good, clean fun.
