A Short HTL Biography

Based in Lima, Ohio, pop-punk band Hit the Lights formed in the summer of 2003. Former vocalist Colin Ross and guitarist Omar Zehery were previously teamed in the little-known Goodbye Session, while guitarist Nick Thompson tenured with the Summer Departure. Bassist David Bermosk and drummer Nate Van Dame (a former roadie for Hawthorne Heights) completed the lineup, and after taking their name from a track on Metallica's influential debut LP, Kill 'Em All, Hit the Lights earned a fervent cult following on the basis of their feverish live shows, and made their recorded debut on the 2004 EP From Ohio with Love alongside A Day in the Life and Red Affair. After self-releasing the 2005 EP Until We Get Caught, Hit the Lights signed to the Triple Crown label, which reissued the disc in advance of the band's first full-length effort, 2006's This Is a Stick Up... Don't Make It a Murder.
The band have taken part in numerous national tours, including the spring 2006 Sub City Take Action tour with Matchbook Romance, the 2005 and 2006 Vans Warped Tours, and their headlining Let It Ride tour. They toured alongside bands including Paramore, Cute Is What We Aim For, and This Providence in the summer of 2006. After the Paramore tour, they started on tour with New Found Glory, Cartel, and The Early November. They toured in the UK during December of 2006, and finally made an Australian run on the Soundwave tour in March of 2007, also playing alongside Drive By and Houston Calls as support for MxPx.
They were named SPIN Band of the Day on April 11, 2006.
On 29 June, 2007, the band announced the departure of their vocalist, Colin Ross, as Colin had cited that he was no longer happy with the lifestyle of the touring artist. The boys are currently writing a new record and looking for a new vocalist, and promise to have some new tunes for us to enjoy very soon.
