The video below, is described as follows: On Aug 16th, 1960...Col.(then Capt.)Joseph Kittinger, set World Records for the Highest EVER Balloon ascent, the Highest Parachute jump, Looongest freefall AND, Fastest EVER FREE speed through the Earths' atmosphere! ALL of which STILL stand as untouched records today! On that date in history, he jumped from the Excelsior III at an altitude of 102,800 feet! He was in freefall for a total of 4 1/2 minutes AND, reached a MAX speed of 614mph, ALL before opening his chute at 18,000 feet! THIS, took ABSOLUTE and COMPLETE dedication to what he believed in! The pressure suit he was wearing FAILED, his right hand swelled up to TWICE it's normal size AND, the shirt he was wearing under the suit, had to ACTUALLY be PEELED from his skin due to friction burns! THIS is a PRIME example of the "Man on a Mission" statement! The Highest Step in the World (and skydiving from it)
