I was born in Warsaw, Poland, in 1924, the son of Jewish parents from Lithuania. My parents anticipated the political unrest and decided to leave Poland to live in France in 1936.
My mother was a doctor and my father a clothes salesman. I was introduced to mathematics by my uncle, Szolem Mandelbrojt, who was a famous Parisian mathematician. I had an unconventional approach to mathematics.myspace graphics & layouts
