About Me

Bio
Diego Montinaro aka Sandiego was born and raised in the suburbs of Milan, Italy.
In 1987 at the age of 11 his interest for music occurred with Michael Jackson’s album Bad. Inspired by Jackson’s melodies and Quincy Jones production, he started to face the black music sound, moving towards jazz, funk, boogie, disco and soul.
In 1993 he was already an expert of second hand vintage vinyls, collecting rarities. He started making beats with Akai S950 sampler and Atari 520 ST computer. Major inspiration was given from artists like Herbie Hancock and Donald Byrd, generally by all the CTI records an specifically Bob James and Deodato.
In 2002 with already three Lp released and strong experience in studio production he starts to move into electronic music founding Boogie Drama project. During years Boogie Drama signed important releases on labels as Systematic, Was Not Was, Mood Music, 2020 Vision more than remixes for Mood Music, Brique Rouge, Strobe Music, Infant, Liebe Detail and Highway.
At the same time as Diego Montinaro he releases the excellent album “My Politix of Dancing” on Irma Records. An Lp that merges Kraftwerks electronic sounds with the first 80’s New York sound thanks to the typical sampling technique of hip hop. The accurate production and writing of arrangement, composition and singing, all from Diego Montinaro itself, grants him a great review by Dj T. on Groove Mag.
In parallel the electronic productions proceed on Soundplant – the label from the other half of Boogie Drama, Lele Sacchi – and for Trapez.
After a long period of listening sessions and experiments in recording studio the latest productions result in an accurate sound which mix some elements of Detroit Techno together with powerful rhythmical arrangements, Moog bass in 3/4 and old school electro sounds.
