About Me
I'm writing all of this as some kind for therapy, it relaxes me, and helps me remember how this started... i don't really expect you to read this, but if you do, thank you, and good for you.I'm a little bit contry, a little bit rock & roll..... No, not really. I'm all top 40. What can i say? that's what i like... Try it to mix it up a bit and do different styles but at the end of the day it's all pop. I've been writing songs ever since i can remember, probably my first song i wrote when i was around 10 years old and i still remember it, believe it or not, and catch myself singing it every now and then, not my best work, but hey, we all have to start somewhere...Growing up there was abolutely nothing in the world that could compare to the feeling that music would give me. It was probably Madonna the first artist that i was really passionate about. And of course, Timbiriche, only the best mexican group ever, but chances are that if you're not mexican then you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. But take my world for it, they were amazing.I spent all my high school and colleage years writing songs in class, never did i have an idea of what was going on outside my notebook... I swear to God i have no idea how i ever got my degree, not that i've used it much (See that Dad? i told you) But it was until i turned 18 when i went in studio for the first time and recorded my first song "Solo en Mi Habitacion" (All Alone in my Bedroom) which i hope my mom still has a copy of, cause i lost mine awhile back... (in fact, mom, if you're reading this: Do you? I would hate to loose that.)Sorry, anyways... So for a while i kept writing songs that no one was THAT excited about, you know, i would get the usual "oh, that's cute, you're doing a demo, that song is kind of cute" but they were just being nice, the song WASN'T really that cute... I think i can see that now, back then i thought they were the shit though. But then there was "Crazy for You" my first english song, and that was the first time that everyone seemed honest when they said how much they liked it. In fact, i liked it a lot too, i think that was my first song that made sense and that was actually kinda good. That was 1999. Ouch, that was a while back... now that i think about it. So what have i been doing between then and now? well selling furniture of course!! Well, not really, but kind of, i kept writing songs, and i believe they kept getting better, and smarter, but things happen, and i had to stop for awhile, only recording songs here and there but not persuing it like i should had. In my defense I had to learn to support myself for the first time in my life, so that's where the whole selling furniture distraction comes... (Check out my website WWW.THISISNOTIKEA.COM) But in 2006, i finally got my shit together and started spending all my time (and my money) in the studio. And since then i haven't stopped and between Todd and I, (and some help from our friends) we've been doing songs that we really do believe in and can't wait for the day when they hopefully become something big, at least a few of them, right? And of course there are all the little details that happened on the way, like i was a part of a boyband for awhile in Mexico City (oh yes, very proud of that) and then i released a solo album in my hometown ("Taste Life") and my songs finally made it to the radio, i met Mariah (big deal for me), things like that that were kinda cool. And that's that, today i keep doing music, everyday, happier and more excited than ever about it, just waiting for that first song to make it big. It's feels kinda good to follow your passion.
