This is how the story goes....Pam and Stef are sisters that grew up in Portsmouth NH and began playing bass and guitar in the late 70's. Pam always had this r&b, blues, soul interest and we used to tease her about it as a kid. Being the time it was, we listened to a lot of folk, southern and British rock then punk came on the scene, for us that was around 1978. After a stint in So. Cal, Stef took off for London, UK while Pam went out west to Boulder, Colorado. While out there Pam co-produced an LP for the Soul Merchants. Meanwhile punk was alive and well in England and the first attempt at joining a band began for Stef. Upon returning home during the summer of 1983 Simple Assault was formed with Stef/vocals, Tina Marconi/bass (Cadillac Hitmen), Dawn Pericles/guitar, and Wimpy Rutherford/drums, (Queers, Jabbers, Drunken Cholos). We played locally and had a really good time. That summer saw the beginning of local punk shows and so it goes....Upon returning from London Stef then ventured to NYC to work in the music biz and Pam proceeded to live in Japan for the next 12 years. Around 1999 Stef and Chip Bonosky/drums..formed Bolt. We went through a few bass players but found that when Pam was here to visit that she was the one for the job. So we would send music back and forth to Japan to work on songs and would record at the Electric Cave with Jim Tierney a couple of times within the 5 years that this went on. We played locally in the area until the realization that this was in fact at an end became really clear. Future collaborations are always a possibility.
