A native of Ohio County, KY, Ameda Elliott began promoting Ally White and Reynolds Station in 2003 after being introduced to White’s soulful vocal sounds with bluegrass instruments. This one listen sparked her to begin questioning people that she would meet at work, on the street, even at church about the types of music they liked and before the conversation would end, Elliott would explain show she grew up hating Bluegrass music and how Ally White and Reynolds Station had awakened a great love for the music when placed with the correct sounding vocals and more times than not she would be running back to White’s father to give CD order requests from the folks that she had just talked to. This then prompted White’s father to have Elliott and White meet. After the meeting it was clear that White’s manager was impressed with the knowledge that the recent CD sales increase had been due to Elliott’s passion for this young artist’s talent.A year later while watching CMT, Elliott came across the music videos for Gretchen Wilson’s “Redneck Woman†and Big and Rich’s “Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy†and that same initial spark that she had when she first heard Ally White and Reynolds Station was there when she saw these two videos. Not only did she have that same spark of interest but also she felt like she wanted to make sure the world knew about these two artists but she did not know how. All she had was a computer and was working fulltime for a local bank as their computer technician. The drive to tell more people about Gretchen Wilson and Big and Rich drove her to do several hours of research where she stumbled across the website for their organization called The Muzik Mafia. On this site she found a handful of other fans that were mostly local Nashville fans and began talking with them at length about the group and learned that the Muzik Mafia was more than just a simple band name. It was a way of believing that anyone with raw talent could find refuge and encouragement in an often cruel and uncaring music world. The biggest perk for their fans was that these were artists that were not to good to spend time with their loyal fans after a show anywhere they played. Over time the Muzik Mafia formed a special team of fans known as Mafia Soldiers and would give them missions to perform such as calling stations to play a song, inviting friends to a show, getting friends and family to signup on their message forum, and various other “street team†missions.Ameda Elliott joined the Mafia Soldiers when she obtained copies of albums by John Rich and Big Kenny that were not on the general market and started burning copies for other fans on the Muzik Mafia site and shipping them all over the country and parts of Canada to anyone that wanted copies for no charge. It was not uncommon to have 10 or more CD orders a day. From shipping CDs she became a well-known figure in the Muzik Mafia’s fan base and soon was recruited to be the main go to person in the Kentucky area for Kentucky’s Muzik Mafia fans. This then spawned to not just shipping CDs but also answering questions such as Is John Rich dating? to How can I effectively better promote my favorite artists, and various other music industry related questions that she would relay to Muzik Mafia’s management team if she was not able to provide the answers. She also received endless requests to attend various shows by Muzik Mafia fans in Nashville simply because fans everywhere wanted to meet her. The demand for being at so many other shows became so great that she left her job in Kentucky and moved to the Nashville area. Where she met Pow Shadowz a local hip-hop artist that was widely known in the Nashville Underground Hip-Hop Scene. In 2006 Ameda Elliott began attending a few Underground Hip-Hop events in the Nashville area and found she was repeatedly comparing other Nashville Hip-Hop artists to the sounds she heard from Pow Shadowz. This sparked her to contact him and ask if he could use any of her help with getting his fans more involved in promoting him. He was greatly impressed in her willingness to work with him. It didn’t take long before Pow Shadowz saw that she was not only good at getting his fans involved but was good at helping him respond to the numerous comments and messages he was receiving on his MySpace site. Pow Shadowz soon relocated to Los Angeles but his friendship with Elliott would not allow him to pick another person to work with him so they worked out a deal that she would research venues in the Los Angeles area to have him perform at and also help him manage his MySpace page without ever having to leave Nashville. This went on for 2 years where she learned fast about the most effective ways to promote Pow Shadowz online as well as how to carry out responsibilities that would normally be reserved for a Personal Assistant or small time artist management team; except her responsibilities have always been performed alone, often without any request for payment or recognition from any of the artists she feels that familiar spark for, and most importantly the majority of her work is always done online on various networking sites or fan forums, hence the term Online Music PromoterCurrently, Ameda Elliott has her hands in different genres at any given time. From managing and maintaining the MySpace site for local Bowling Green, KY Christian band, The Tim Long Band, fulfilling her responsibilities as Head of Operations for Hazard,KY based independent gospel record label Porch-Lite Group, serving as fan club President for Nashville recording artist Trey Jewell, and moderator for Little Texas’ official street team website.
