About Me

With roots in rock, jazz, country and gospel, Roxanne Beck is a genre-busting singer and songwriter. A native Arkansan, her career began in Nashville, where she worked as a demo singer, sang back-up on the Grand Ole Opry and was a winner of the Country Music Hall of Fame Vocalist Contest. But perceived as a rocker by Nashville's traditional music scene, Roxanne decided to move to New York City. There she wrote and produced her first CD, “Garden of Love,” performed at venues from the Bitter End to Carnegie Hall, and became a successful voice actor. Soon her style began to turn towards jazz and blues, and a move to Los Angeles led to the production of her first jazz CD, "Comes Love" (2008), overseen by Grammy-nominated producer Bud Harner. Arranged by Jon Cowherd, John Pondel and Louis Durra, the album includes 11 eclectic covers of jazz and pop standards. Her version of Billie Holliday's “Comes Love,” featuring chart-topping guitarist Paul Brown, received national airplay in 2008. Special guest Jeff Golub lends his guitar chops to “Everlasting Blues,” “Dirty Work,” and “In the Garden.” The CD also features Pondel and Jay Gore on guitar, Durra and Rodney Lee on piano, Larry Antonino, Matt Bissonette, and Jeff Falkner on acoustic bass, Harner, Dave Karasony and Henry Newmark on drums, and Ron Pedley on Hammond B3 organ. Since arriving in Hollywood, Roxanne has also become a screenwriter; her original script "Caterpillarland," an animated feature, was optioned in the fall of ‘08. Her CDs and more information are available at roxannebeck.com, CDBaby.com, and iTunes.
