About Me

HOMEPAGE: www.petertrappen.com
Since 2005, as a soloist and with various bands, Peter Trappen has been performing all around Michigan. Trappen's style is a melting pot of various genres that reference motown, blues, 60s music, island and folk : psychedelic island mo-folk blues.
Before that, Pete was in South Florida in a band called the 'White Owls'. Here's their website if you're curious:

About the song 'Shimnecon'... John Okemos was born in Shiawassee County, Michigan in the 1770's. He camped and farmed along the Grand River from Portland to the Red Cedar in Okemos. He became chief of the Grand River Band of Chippewa (Ojibway) Indians. In the 1830's, a smallpox and cholera epidemic, thought to have been brought by the white settlers, wiped out most of that tribe. Okemos became a wanderer, eventually making Meshimeneconing (Shimnecon), meaning "apple orchard", his residence. For more of the story see: www.shimnecon.com
As a teenager we would go there, which is a state preserve now, and party with friends on the weekends in what we called "grassers"... which usually involved a keg of beer and the usual accoutrements. There is a legend that Chief Okemos still wanders the area and has been sighted on numeous occasions. pt
