About Me
S.P.O.T (Strategy Produces Overall Thought) THE BIO PAGE Philip Wronge, better known in The Entertainment Industry as S.P.O.T, was born in East Flatbush-Brooklyn, New York on October 18, 1979. S.P.O.T grew up in a middle class neighborhood, two blocks from one of the worst projects in Brooklyn (Vandeveer). My lifestyle was better than most of my friends because I was blessed to have parents that stayed together. They have always been positive role models in my life. I respect the fact that my parents became successful, as immigrants to this country; this has always shown and given me drive and determination knowing that anything is possible. Philips family introduced him to music at an early age. They would play 45 and 12 LPs of many genres of music including Gospel, R&B, Reggae and Funk. His brother was the one who influenced him to start song writing. He had a group in the early 1990s, in which Philip performed as a b-boy (break dancer) under the stage name, SpotLyte. One day the group wanted to do a song like A Tribe Called Quests Scenario and thats when young Philip wrote his first verse. As he continued to explore song writing, his brother recognized his approach to writing; which is basically thinking before you speak, hence the alias of S.P.O.T. After his brothers group went their separate ways, S.P.O.T went on to start a group of his own. Unfortunately that partnership and two others did not last due to artistic differences. Ignoring the differences, S.P.O.T remained focused and continued to evolve and improve his writing. Soon after, on a trip to Europe, he met one of the top DJs in The Netherlands, known to the Dutch Airwaves as DJ DCS. DCS was most impressed with S.P.O.Ts talent and invited him to collaborate on a recording project. This was S.P.O.Ts first solo recording, entitled Life Is What U Make It. On the flight back from Holland is when he discovered that performing music was his calling, the art of songwriting was his true destiny. That next month, Philip wrote an acceptance letter to Five Towns College and thereafter graduated with an A.A.S in Music Business Management and a B.P.S in Music Business. After graduation, a close friend (Edward Lucuara) and Philip decided to continue a radio show they had created in school called Down 2 Earth. They then chose to start their own record label, Down 2 Earth Records, Inc. in 2002. S.P.O.T would describe himself as someone that is goal-oriented, with drive and determination, spiritual, ever conscious, loving, kind, and compassionate. He has a laid back personality, it takes a lot to upset him; he is never out of character. S.P.O.T can bring a different sound to The Entertainment Industry because of his musical diversity and cross-pollination of styles. His influences, which include Reggae, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Latin, House, Freestyle, and Hip-Hop, have led him to create the original style he exhibits through production and song writing. His sound varies from song to song and would never limit himself to one genre of music. Most of all, I believe that one thing I exhibit that others can not, is my story. I have a different approach to story telling; its not your average, shoot em up-bang bang music or the bling bling type of thing. Its more of a practical and realistic approach that people can relate to, both male and female, young and old. S.P.O.Ts definition of an M.C. is mic control. Being an M.C. means a lot to me, it is an opportunity to communicate with the world and make a difference. I believe being an M.C. is a blessing because everyone isnt blessed with the ability to express him or herself through song. An M.C. still holds its authentic purpose, which is to move the crowd, but I would like to do this physically, mentally and spiritually. His message to society as a whole would be, Love yourself and others. He would like to demonstrate this through his music and examples. S.P.O.T would like to be an inspiration by sharing his knowledge to those that lack guidance, a spiritual impact on those that do or do not have faith in a supreme being, and a controversial-fueled, political impact on those that are blind to the rules and regulations that we live and are suppose to abide by. Overall, S.P.O.T aspires to become a legend of diversity through art. In the next five to ten years I would like to be recognized for my contributions to the music industry. Ive always said that I would be happy with the recognition and if I receive the riches that would be nice. I see Down 2 Earth Records, Inc. and myself expanding to unimaginable expectations, including franchising our recording studio and becoming the potential international artist that many believe I can be. I desire a home, meet a beautiful woman and start a family of my own. I would also love to work on collaborations with some of my own musical inspirations in the future. The conflicts in Philip Wronges life have assisted him to express himself musically. His life experiences are the foundation of the art he creates. Those artistic differences among other conflicts between partnerships in the past have taught him to deal with the egos of others and to take the next man or womans burden into consideration. S.P.O.T says his best troubleshooting technique would have to be prevention and his best block is not to be there. Learning from your mistakes is key, if you do not recognize the problem, there will never be a solution. Then you will not be able to prevent the unseen from arising.
