About Me
VOLUME DOWN BEFORE PLAYING THE TRACKS!
Sorry for annoying caps, but your ears will thank me. I thought i'd write a bit of info about the above songs (Yamaha PSS-50, 30/08/07)...
You'll notice there are two tracks up here. The first, '5 Tracks' is actually 5 seperate recordings or layers merged into one track. The sounds generated in this track are produced solely via the 3 red buttons- no other keys on the keyboard were pressed, no voice changed, no effects unit, no polishing the final recording or applying fx on the computer- this track is simply me hitting record, pressing the 3 red buttons in random order for a couple of minutes, pressing stop, pressing record again and repeating. 5 seperate tracks are recorded in this way and then merged into one single track (all using the freeware program 'Audacity'). As you'll hear, there is no melody or tune, I just wanted to show off the sounds this machine is now capable of. Be aware you'll have little or no control over sounds produced, and sounds are almost impossible to replicate, due to the very random nature of the modifications. This does make it a blast to mess around with though, and I could happily sit for hours producing all the high bleeps, bassy lows, ambient fuzz and pulsating UFO-esque noises this thing can make.
The second track again relies only on the use of the 3 red buttons, but demonstrates how the buttons interact with the keyboards' accompaniment. Two seperate styles/rhythms are played, and then the buttons hit. As you'll hear, the buttons modify each style almost beyond recognition, completely changing the voices with some interesting results. The keyboard has 20 different styles/rhythms, each of which can be edited in the same way as demonstrated in this track, meaning the possibilities are virtually endless. All of the keyboards' 14 demos can also be messed and mangled in this same manor, if you feel like destroying something =)
As already mentioned, these tracks were recorded without the aid of any effects and no other instruments contributed. This is purely the sound of the Yamaha, the only recording aids being a standard line cable and the freely avaliable (and excellent) software 'Audacity'. The sounds have not been tweaked or modified in any way upon being recorded, the only post-performance work being to merge the 5 tracks into 1.
Any questions, please do ask on here or ebay or both, and i'll get back to you as soon as i can.
All the best :-)
