Vanessa K. Nickens, full-lyric soprano, is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a Master of Music in Vocal Performance. A current student of Amanda Pauley, she performed recently in Operafestival di Roma’s production of Don Giovanni as Donna Elvira . She won her division at NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) for the state of Virginia in 2007.
Ms. Nickens was a member of the Greensboro Opera Chorus during their 2002-2003 seasons and performed the role of Ruth in the Pirates of Penzance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
She holds a Bachelors degree in Music and Psychology from Mary Baldwin College , where her roles included the Fairy Queen in the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Iolanthe.
A native German, Ms. Nickens has been a resident of the US for the past twelve years, coaching others successfully in German lyric diction and bringing her vast knowledge of language to her current engagements.
