Elisabeth Hein

About Me

Elisabeth wrote her first song at age 17, on the piano, as a result of a classic heartbreak situation. After leaving home the next year, without her trusty piano she had had access to all her life, she was forced to pick up the guitar. Living in Crater Lake National Park, she wrote her first guitar song on a borrowed guitar. Luckily she received an old nylon string as a gift later that year and was able to create many quiet and lonesome melodies while living in houses with paper-thin walls in Seattle. Over the next two years Elisabeth had to sneak into the practice rooms at the University of Washington in order to play the piano, where she continued to compose songs. When she was 20 she finally purchased her own guitar in a tiny town in the mountains of central Mexico. Other guitars followed, as did a borrowed piano with rattling keys and squeaky pedals, and a toy harmonica. After over twelve years, she is about to re-commandeer the very piano of her childhood.
