Steve Parker

About Me

Steve Parker is a trombonist living in Philadelphia. He received a Fulbright Fellowship to perform contemporary music in Germany and was awarded an ENCORE grant from the American Composers Forum to solo in the American premiere of David Lang’s MEN. Steve was a prizewinner in the ITA Van Haney solo competition in Helsinki, Finland and has soloed at the Spoleto Festival, Roulette in New York, and the Bowerbird series in Philadelphia. He has performed in guest recitals at the Eastman School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory, College Music Society at Northwestern University, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and College of Charleston in South Carolina.
Steve has received fellowships with the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland to work with Pierre Boulez and Ensemble InterContemporain, the Bang on a Can Festival, the Spoleto Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the National Repertory Orchestra. He is a member of duo In Freundschaft with cellist Jason Calloway of the Biava Quartet and 2nd Instrumental Unit in NYC. He went to school at Oberlin and Rice.
