Orchestral Alchemy
an online CD by Lee FitzSimmons

Welcome to the living CD that is Orchestral Alchemy. Filled with glowing orchestral warmth and wholesome symphonic goodness, Orchestral Alchemy was created to enhance its listeners by aiding them in building a grand ballet theatre for the dance of the muses.
1. Waltz of the Mermaids – Playing with two primary melodies, this cleverly nimble piece jumps from the first one to the next one and then mischievously approaches the first one again before it finally decides to jump back upon it.
2. Melodia – A lone melody is presented over a gentle bed of marimba textures, before is generously elaborated upon in the development that follows.
3. The Merry Mare – A thick pizzicato string section lays down a soft bed of prancing pony rhythms upon which two melodies dance.
4. Mary’s Theme – There are two melodies that are presented in this piece as friends in counterpoint. They are taken and developed in a number ways as the piece continues.
5. Silver Sails – The main melody of the piece is presented and then developed along with a few other secondary themes.
6. Dance of the Faeries – The melody of this tune starts high and then swoops down, then starts high again and falls gracefully. This happens twice as the arrangement thickens during the second time, adding pizzicato bass, triangle, and an arpeggiated wood section. During the development in the middle of the piece, the melody starts low and then flies up, then starts low again before ascending once more. This entire developmental process occurs once more as the reversed theme is raised a step. The piece ends as it begins, reintroducing the original melody to the listener.
7. Sylvan Fanfare – A primary theme is given in the fanfare at the beginning and developed quite thoroughly throughout the piece.
8. Waltz of Silver – The melody from Silver Sails is developed in waltz time.
9. Solace – The melody from Silver Sails is developed with a slower tempo.
