Music has always been a big part of my life. I began taking piano lessons as a child then switched to playing guitar as I chose to be a hippie in my high school days. I learned all the hippie protest songs than got bored and fell in love with the bass...along with old school funk and hip hop! Eventually I discovered jazz and have been hooked ever since. I studied at San Francisco State, the Jazz School and the Community Music Center all in the Bay Area. I also developed a love for Latin music and dance. I played in a Brazilian band for many years with which I had the chance to play in all the major venues in SF. I then began to study my tumbao more seriously and played in an Afro Cuban trio and a salsa band for a minute before moving here to the big apple. Being in NY has been mind blowing! The talent I see here on a day to day basis can be intimidating yet also inspiring. I am looking forward to my new musical path here in a magical city where anything is possible!!! ************************************************************ ********* The music I have posted to listen to is from my personal project called Superbacana. Superbacana is a studio project of mostly original music written by myself and collaborated with several different vocalists, instrumentalists and produced by me and my creative partner Khalil Doak Anthony, who also lays down some phat guitar parts. Superbacana has a song, "Reza" on a Ubiquity Records compilation titled Rewind 2, a self titled four song EP, and two songs, "Era Verdade" and "Wondering" out on a Newhouse Records compilation titled San Francisco Under A Groove which also features local superstar Goapele. ************************************************************ **********
