About Me

SLOW QUICKSILVER GREETINGS FROM MY HERENESS TO YOUR THERENESS.
I AM A SINGER, POET, GUITAR PICKER AND DREAMER. THE TRACKS FROM THE NEW ALBUM HERE ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR DOWN-LOAD.
THIS ISN'T ME BEING A BLUE MEANIE, BUT AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THE ONLY MONEY I BRING HOME IS FROM MUSIC. (Well, apart from my darling Heather's wages - thus I am a 'kept man' hmmmm)!
DETAILS OF THE NEW ALBUM AND PURCHASING plus extraneous nonsense CAN BE FOUND BY CONTACTING

THERE IS SO, SO MUCH MUSIC THAT I TRULY LOVE, THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DISCERN INFLUENCES. A BRIEF LIST OF FAVOURITE SONGWRITERS WOULD HAVE TO INCLUDE
Donovan
Kate and Anna McGarrigle
Robin Wiliamson
Bridget St John
Leonard Cohen
Buffy Sainte Marie
Clive Palmer
Tracy Chapman
David Ackles
I ENJOY THE COMPANY OF BEATNIKS, HIPPIES AND NON-VIOLENT DISSIDENTS
I play as a solo acoustic performer as well as with the following splendid combos:
THE PLAYERS
www.myspace.com/wearetheplayers
Phil Keys on electric lead guitar and electric bass.
Ed Steele-Fox on drums and percussion.
Me on acoustic guitar and voice.
The Players are rootsybluesycountryfolkadelicresonators so stuff that in your pipe and smoke it!
THE WHOLE CABOODLE ELECTRIC CEILIDH BAND
Traditional dance tunes from The British Isles along with a few Breton tunes and the odd pop song. Very eclectic and exciting noisy bugs, we love what we do and always have a good time. Thankfully, so do the punters. I play electric guitar.

A singular beat group, unique, visceral and vibrant. We play my own electric songs and sometimes selected cover versions of stuff that we really like (some of them are even faintly recognisable). Included on this site is a live studio version of one of our songs.
Phil Keys on electric bass.
Ray Clarke on drums.
Chris Powell on lead guitar.
MAY THE LONG TIME SUN SHINE UPON YOU INDEED.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Perhaps only one head and several layers of the onion. One burning bush heart and an unfolding soul. Contact/Bookings [email protected]

Influences: My lovely mum Ivy and her two sisters Lilly and Daisy (no wonder I got into psychedelics and flower power) who sang close harmony with my Uncle Arthur on piano. It is only recently that I have fully realised how much their playing had sunk into my young heart and mind.
Also honour to Dick Langford who first showed me how to curl my fingers into chord shapes and also set me on the fingerstyle path. Thank you sir.
Oh yes, Jimi Hendrix did (no apologies for the old fashioned terminology) 'blow my mind' and still inspires me to this day.

Sounds Like: Someone trying to articulate (both in words and sound) how they truly feel, including pain as well as joy. Bewilderment as well as Love, and in the widest deepest sense, in Praise of The Divine. Someone once said that I 'sang like a disenchanted angel' and Nigel Kennedy told me that my voice was 'really pure'. Many years ago, Mickie Most came to see Old School Sky play in Worcester. Apparently he thought we were not commercial enough but was impressed by my singing. I was advised to contact him if I wished to pursue a career but I chose to hold on to my band members and my integrity. Was/Am I a Fool?

Farewell beautiful Kate McGarrigle

I have only just heard about the death of Kate McGarrigle and it is awful, she was a beautiful soul and a wonderful musician and songwriter.  Love over and over.I can't play any of her music right now...
